Community Invited to Coastal Health & Wellness Open House Celebration

Post Date:07/22/2016

Whether insured, under-insured or uninsured, the services offered at Coastal Health & Wellness are available to all county residents. The nationally-recognized Community Health Center will host an open house celebration on August 13, during National Health Center Week.

The event will offer county residents an opportunity to get an up-close look at the state-of-the-art Coastal Health & Wellness Texas City clinic by touring the facility. Staff and providers will be available to answer questions about services and offer education on dental hygiene and other important health topics. Free blood pressure, body mass index and hearing screenings will be offered and free activities for children will also be available.

“We are very fortunate in Galveston County to have a beautiful and modern community health clinic that rivals and often surpasses private practices,” said Tammy Babcock, executive director of the clinic. “New patients often comment about how our facility and service exceeded their expectations.”

Coastal Health & Wellness provides primary medical, dental and counseling services at two clinics, in Texas City and Galveston. Medicaid, Medicare and many insurance plans are accepted and discounts available for eligible uninsured and underinsured patients. In 2015, Coastal Health & Wellness served a total of 13,625 Galveston County residents with 59,968 combined medical and dental visits to the two clinics.

According to the National Association of Community Health Centers, health centers provide more than 24 million patients with comprehensive, high-quality, affordable and accessible care while saving the healthcare system $24 billion annually. Health centers help reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary emergency room visits by providing traditionally underserved patients access to care.

“We hope people who are looking for a primary care home or a new provider come to the open house to see what Coastal Health & Wellness has to offer.”

The open house is scheduled for Saturday, August 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Texas City Coastal Health & Wellness clinic located at 9850-C Emmett F. Lowry Expressway. For more information about Coastal Health & Wellness, call (409) 938-2234 or visit www.coastalhw.org
